My Hubby!

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is doing her Show Us Your Life meme. I have done several of these over the last 6 months or so. This one was a no brainier to do since it's about my hubby! I have talked about him before & how we met but I thought it would be fun to do it again!
Hey it's my blog! :)

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

The GD & I met at church in the college & career ministry. I don't remember our first meeting, but I do remember the first time God stirred my heart for him. We had a meeting with some of the leaders of the C&C ministry & I was upset about some of the changes that were taking place. After the meeting he came up to me & simply asked me "How are you?" But there was something in his voice that told me he genuinely wanted to know how I was. I remember walking away, after talking to him for at least 30 min, thinking how he was someone special. After that he started helping me with our weekly bible study & afterwords we would go get coffee or get a snack & talk for hours. Long before we were actually dating, people started questioning if we were in fact dating. We even joked about telling people we were getting married & planned out a ceremony! (God was up to something!) Then one night (Feb 22nd to be exact) after bible study we were sitting in my car talking & actually approached the subject of having feelings for each other & what to do about it. We both expressed how we wanted the next person we dated to be the one we were going to marry, which is a little daunting to go into it with those expectations already set up. He was concerned about taking our friendship to that level & if it was worth it. Without skipping a beat, I reached over, held his hand so that our fingers were intertwined & said "I want this."

Ever since that moment when our fingers were first intertwined, I couldn't see where he stopped & I began. 3 months (May 7th) later we were engaged, & married one year later (May 18th)! We became one, working together, loving together, starting a family together & growing together. We have had many challenging times in our relationship, whether is was the possibility of not being able to have children, or when we did have children, or money, or family or so many other things, one thing I know is he is still intertwined with me. He is my other half, my better half. I have learned so much about myself because of him. And I know that I am a better person for knowing & loving him. He has always told me that his heart beats in my chest & I have always said that when I am in his arms the world makes sense again. And it does!

This May we will be married 8 yrs, the best of my life so far! We have 2 beautiful boys & can't wait to see what God has in store for us next!

NMM

What joy what bliss...it's Monday!!! Okay, do I really like Monday's? Um no but there is one thing that brings such joy & bliss to my Monday's...NMM! The time that I can come here & confess all the things I did not do in the last week! Who came up with this fantastic idea? That of course would be MckMama! Be sure to hop over there & get in on the fun! And now, my NMM...

*I did not start feeling sick this weekend & end up having to stay home from church on Sunday because I felt so bad. I never get sick & even if I do, it never keeps me away from church! Not me!

*I did not wake up Saturday morning to S-man telling me that D-D had thrown up on the couch. We were not bracing ourselves for a stomach bug, & knowing that it would spread rapidly through our whole family! He then did not proceed to do it again, only this time we realized he was sticking his finger down this throat! Oh no, my 2 yr old would never do that!

*Later that same Saturday I did not end up having to take the GD to the doctor! He was not trying to break up some concrete in the backyard & he was most certainly wearing safety glasses. So because he was wearing the glasses, concrete did not fly up into his eye! Since that didn't happen, I did not proceed to wash his eye out & put drops in them, only to end up at the walk in clinic. They did not wash it out again & not find anything in there but give him a tetanus shot anyway just in case! They did not say that it was a corneal irritation, prescribe drugs for a possible headache & ointment for his eye! We did not take them to CVS to get it filled only to find out the ointment was $45!!!!! $45 for 3.5g!!!!! TINY, TINY tube cost $45!!!! I guess that's the going rate for putting GOLD in your eye!!! But since my husband always take every precaution, this whole thing never happened!

*I did not turn a year older this week, & hardly notice that the day was any different! I did not head out to meet the GD for lunch, on my way I did not run over something in the road & I most certainly did not get a flat tire. I did not manage to get to Wal-Mart only to find out that I would need a whole new tire! Thankfully we bought road hazard protection when we bought those tires, however that meant putting on the spare & driving to the garage we got them from. Finally we dropped off the van, had lunch, got back to get the van & it cost $50! I was not hating my bad luck & thankful for the warranty at the same time, knowing it could have cost more! It was not the birthday present I was looking for, but I am thankful for God's little blessing everyday!

So that's my NMM, what did you not do?

Thankful Thursday

Last week I posted this about 2 dear IRL friends of mine & how much they mean to me! I decided to keep this going as a weekly thing. Sometimes is might be a person or even something that has happened in our lives. Just pausing to be thankful for all the amazing things & people God has placed in my life! And as all of you know I am on a bloggy-design kick right now, so I even created a button for it! So if you would like to join in then grab this button & be sure to link back to me so I can come read what you are thankful for!

This week I want to tell you about my husband & how thankful for him I am! But first I want to tell you how we met & fell in love. The GD & I met at church in the college & career ministry. I don't remember our first meeting, but I do remember the first time God stirred my heart for him. We had a meeting with some of the leaders of the C&C ministry & I was upset about some of the changes that were taking place. After the meeting he came up to me & simply asked me "How are you?" Thank you my love for loving me, for holding me, for supporting me, for all you do for me & our family! I love you, baby blue!
8 yrs & 4 days later, I still want this!

Date Night

Guess what we did last night? No not that, where are your minds! We had a date night! It's probably the first one we have had since October. Yep it's been that long! We have been so busy & so broke! We finally had the time & a little extra cash & had a date night! We had dinner at Carrabbas & then saw "Marley & Me"! The food was fantastic of course, I got my favorite, the Polla Rosa Maria! YUMMO! "Marley & Me" was really cute too, I would definitely recommend it! It was quite sad, but other than that it's a great family movie! It's PG but I will warn you there are about 4 or 5 cuss words, I didn't keep an exact count but that's about what I remember! Overall it was a great movie & we had a blast! It was so nice to be out just the 2 of us! We were planning our April weekend getaway to B-ham! We are using some of our tax money to get away just the 2 of us. This is our birthday, anniversary, valentines day, etc present to each other! We are spending Friday & Saturday night away & seeing the play Wicked! GD loves this musical but has never seen it on stage so I am really looking forward to that! Anyway, we had a great night out & the only downer was we got home to find a sick D-D! He has caught the cold S-Man has, & we (D-D & I) even stayed home today from church because he's running a slight fever! Here's to hoping we don't have to make ANOTHER doctors visit! Hope you guys all have a great weekend!
